Seals for rotating shafts

SDL90

Seals for rotating shafts

SDL90

The designation SDL90 stands for shaft seals, which are designed as labyrinth gap seals.Depending on the application, different versions of the labyrinth geometry are possible.

For high pressures, the seals are equipped with a number of labyrinth elements. If axial flexibility of the shaft is required, the labyrinth can be open or stepped. In addition to the use as a main seal, the SDL90 series can also be used as a back-up device for other shaft seals.

Design

The SDL90 seal can be designed as split version or unsplit version. In the split design, the labyrinth can be interlocked in order to achieve optimum sealing efficiency. The optional version with a carbon material tarnish protection allows small gaps, which also contribute to a good sealing effect.

Applications

The shaft seals of the SDL90 series are used in steam turbines, turbo compressors, blowers and fans. In addition to the use as a main seal, the SDL90 series can also be used as a back-up device for other shaft seals.

Type overview

The shaft seals of the SDL90 series can be flexibly adapted to different operating conditions. The labyrinth can be interlocked, stepped or open. Different port configurations are possible to vent leakage gas and to supply the seals with sealing media.
